The 7 Most Instagrammable Spots in Prague

Looking like something out of a fairytale, Prague has no shortage of iconic and beautiful sights. The city’s charming neighborhoods, hilly terrain, and blend of dramatic architectural styles like Gothic and Romanesque provide more than enough opportunities to take stunning photos. Read on to discover the best Instagram spots to adorn your feed.

Old Town Square

Prague’s Old Town Square is surrounded by a variety of architectural feats that provide a stunning background, such as the dramatic gothic-style Church of Our Lady Before Tyn and, of course, Old Town Hall’s famous medieval Astronomical Clock. Installed way back in 1410, the clock is the world’s oldest still in operation. Between photos you can examine the clock and see if you can make out any of the various religious and astrological figures and symbols.

Charles Bridge

Stretching across the Vltava river, the Charles Bridge is another of Prague’s most iconic sights. Not only do you have the spires and domes of Prague’s most beautiful buildings on either side of the bridge, you have a full view of the river, dotted with swans. The best time to snap a picture on the bridge is obviously sunset, but with such a spectacular background surrounding you in all directions, you’re sure to get some stunning shots any time of day.

Mala Strana

This is one of the most charming neighborhoods in Prague, sloping gently uphill and providing beautiful views both of its pastel streets and the city below. You can explore the streets of Mala Strana, wandering in and out of cafes and shops and stopping for photos, as you head up to Prague Castle, which overlooks the neighborhood. Speaking of which…

Prague Castle

Sitting atop a hill in Mala Strana, Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world with 70,000 square meters of space. The walk up is well-worth it for all the photo ops you’ll find as you wander the grounds, not to mention all the history this place holds. Among the best areas for a picture are the facade of the Saint Vitus cathedral, the gardens, and any viewpoint looking out over the city.

The Dancing House

The Dancing House, otherwise known as Fred and Ginger, was created by famous Czech architect Vlado Milunić in collaboration with American modern architect Frank Gehry. The quirky design of the house and the juxtaposition of the various styles of the neighboring buildings provides an interesting background for photos. The best angle is across the street with a full view of the house and its surrounding buildings.

Municipal Library of Prague Book Tunnel

Peaceful and aesthetically-pleasing, libraries are excellent but often underlooked places for a photoshoot, with walls of books as far as the eye can see. Prague’s Municipal Library is no exception, and even ups the ante with an actual tunnel of books. The tunnel is an art piece created using 8000 books, all of which were either donated or saved from landfills, providing a totally unique feature for your feed.

The Lennon Wall

Another iconic spot in Prague, the Lennon Wall is famous for it’s chaotic, colorful street art. Though Lennon never actually visited Prague, the wall was originally decorated by a few love poems and drawings and, after the assassination of Lennon, was painted with a massive portrait of the artist. While the original portrait is long-covered by layers of paint, the wall is now seen as an homage to the peace and creativity Lennon represents. It goes without saying that a photo here is a must.

To see all these sights and more, reserve your spot on our Prague weekend trip this upcoming spring semester.
